Child's Outfit Development and Construction
Designing and constructing a child’s outfit is one of the first requirements of Apparel Design students at Baylor University. The outfits are donated to children in need, so I wanted to make the ensemble unique yet practical. I used a blush colored corduroy to create an easy-to-slip-on gathered skirt with an elastic waistband, a soft, white knit to make a comfortable t-shirt, and a crisp linen to construct a peter pan collar. For the final touch, I attached a few organic shapes made from hand-felted and hand-dyed wool with a blanket stitch to add a playful element to the garment.
