Rags to Riches
Drawing inspiration from Japan’s borotextiles, I created an art piece that pays homage to their culture and reflects my admiration of their stitching techniques. Using an ordinary Hanes t-shirt, I applied leftover fabric scraps with running stitches, blanket stitches, whipstitches, and French knots to transform a basic t-shirt into a thought-provoking art piece. Rags to Riches was selected by a panel of judges to be featured in the annual Baylor Art Student Exhibition in the Martin Museum of Art.
