Strapless Garment Development and Construction
As an Apparel Design major, I was taught the art of constructing a woman’s bodice with boning and padding. I applied what I learned in the classroom to a project where I challenged myself to create a unique strapless ensemble. First, I patterned and sewed an A-line dress using a lightweight, transparent plastic. Then, I used a silk dupioni to make a strapless bodice and matching Bermuda shorts. My intention was to create an outfit that was elegant enough for an evening event and playful enough to hold its own in a crowd full of cocktail dresses.
